Tiran Island : The island of Tiran is located at the southern end of the Gulf of Aqaba, which is 2000 meters deep cut in the bottom of the ocean. Here the Gulf narrows and becomes shallower. With the change of tides, huge quantities of water flow through this bottleneck and cause very strong currents. In the center of the Strait of Tiran, a ridge pushes up, running from north to south. On its highest elevation four coral reefs (Gordon, Woodhouse, Thomas and Jackson, which are named after British cartographers) have formed. The currents around these reefs are the cause for the extraordinary diversity of corals and big fish swarms. Among others, you can see barracudas, snappers and sharks.

The first part of the boat journey takes you through the thick mangroves behind the island of Koh Kho Khao. Protected from waves this is not only the most comfortable speedboat route in our area – the landscape you will see is spectacular, nearly unpopulated and rarely visited. The three snorkeling stops are the main attraction of this tour, so we do our best to choose the reefs with the best conditions on a daily basis. We also want to give you enough time for snorkeling, so every day is planned a bit differently according to the tides – we want to give you at least one snorkeling stop without a strict time limit. The shallow reefs consist mainly of hard corals – you will find giant clams, sea stars and colorful reef fish such as the famous Nemo Clownfish. We regularly encounter – absolutely harmless but beautiful – reef sharks, Barracudas, sea snakes, Octopuss and if you are lucky even sea turtles.

The governing body is the French Rugby Federation. Rugby was introduced to Saint Barthélemy by the French who colonised the area. More talented players tend to leave for Metropolitan France. There have been occasional games against sides from the other Caribbean islands. Most of its rugby contacts are either with them, or with France itself. One of the major teams on the island is "Les Barracudas", named after a ferocious fish of the Caribbean. They often play teams from Anguilla and other surrounding islands. Rugby union is the second most popular team sport in France after football and is actually the dominant sport in most of the southern half of the country. It was first introduced in the early 1870s by British residents. Elite French clubs participate in the professional domestic club league, the Top 14. Clubs also compete in the European knock-out competition, the Heineken Cup.
